Water and fluid intake

Women who drink to eight-ounce servings (2.3 litres) of fluid a day may significantly reduce their risk of developing kidney stones.

Dismissing popular beliefs, a new study shows that coffee tea and wine seem more effective than water.

Caffeine and alcohol increase the flow of a more diluted urine, which cuts the risk of stone formation, say researchers. Grapefruit juice however, seems to increase the risk of stones. These are interesting contradictions. Years ago, I and a group of naturopaths believed that tea (except green tea) and coffee are bad for the kidneys.
I think the flaw is in the types of water one is drinking. Pipe water is highly chlorinated and also polluted with the chemicals from the lead pipe. Nowadays, we have filtered water and alkaline water resulting in a good quality mineral water that is alkaline. This is very good for the body.
Instead of pure grapefruit juice, I would recommend a mixture of grapefruit, with other fruits juices such as apple, oranges, grapes, star fruits and kiwi fruits. The combination makes a good blend and is very nutritious to the body. Try this and see for your self.
